Michael Morpurgo published his most recent collection, Tales from the Farm last year. It is inspired by the farms run by his* Farms for City Children* charity and the animals that live there. With his wife, Clare, he founded the charity forty years ago, to give children from urban areas an opportunity to spend a week working on a farm in the countryside, connected to food, farming and the natural world. He sometimes calls this his best story ever.
Michael’s books have sold more than 35 million copies. He has served as Children’s Laureate, and has won many prizes, including the Smarties Prize, the Writers Guild Award, the Whitbread Award, the Blue Peter Book Award and the Eleanor Farjeon Lifetime Achievement Award. His stories are a staple of every classroom and library across the UK
