Join this special FREE livestreamed event with authors Jordan Stephens and Hannah Lee celebrating the Summer Reading Challenge! A partnership between Camden Libraries and the British Library.

Jordan Stephens, a writer and performer best known for being one half of pop duo Rizzle Kicks, will read from his book The Missing Piece before answering questions from students. Hannah Lee will introduce her book The Rapping Princess with an interactive rap activity. Meanwhile the book’s illustrator Allen Fatimaharan will host a draw-along.

Aimed at Key Stage 1 students, this fun-packed event takes its inspiration from the British Library’s current exhibition Beyond the Bassline: 500 Years of Black British Music and celebrates this year’s Summer Reading Challenge theme: Marvellous Makers.

Jordan Stephens

Writer and Performer

Jordan Stephens is a writer and performer best known for being one half of pop duo Rizzle Kicks, achieving fame at only 19. Jordan is now a writer, performer and campaigner. He’s also passionate about books and reading. Having been publicly open about his own struggles surrounding mental health, Jordan has also been very active in creating awareness around the stigma attached to it and helping young people to open up about how they feel. His mental-health campaign #IAMWHOLE reached over 120 million people online and made enough of an impact to be mentioned in the Houses of Parliament.

Hannah Lee

Writer

I am an author passionate about promoting literacy with school and festival events. My first children's book, My Hair was acquired by Faber & Faber when I was eighteen years old, making me Faber Children's youngest children's book author.

Growing up I quickly noticed that there were not many books that reflect the experiences of myself and my peers. I wanted to write books that would celebrate individuality and ignite a sense of wellbeing and pride.
